Contrast Ideas
Photography is capturing light. In photography terms, contrast is the relative difference between the light and dark.
In the photo above, you can see the darkness of the tree contrasted against the lightness of the sky. This makes for a more dramatic photo. than if it was up against a darker background. The alternative is as below.
In this photo, the father and son are on a light porch contrasted against the evening sky and dark foreground. The contrast really draws the eye to where they are standing. Again, this makes for a more dramatic photo than if the same photo had been taken in the daylight with a much lighter background.
