Lex at Jazzfest
This was my favorite photo I took at Jazzfest in New Orleans. That’s saying a lot because I took a lot of photos that I love while there. I’m going to be going back next year if I can possibly arrange it. If you ever get a chance to go to Jazzfest in New Orleans, do it. It’s an amazing concert venue with an incredible number of photo opportunities ranging from music stars, concert goers to the locals. The colors, the lights, the action and everything are rich with stories and opportunities.
The photo is of a great young lady I met named Lex. She’s a mover in the local jazz scene in New Orleans. She doesn’t like photos of herself but this one was an exception. I think she doesn’t like them because she feels awkward and makes awkward faces. I know quite a few people like that actually. The best photos of them tend to be candid photos such as this one.
The mid-afternoon sun was hot and bright that day. Normally this washes out people but with Lex, the sun highlighted her hair perfectly.
